Garden Route Newsletter on Google where spelling matters

Spelling matters on Google and the Google version used matters as well. Depending on the spelling of the search terms, Google returns significantly different results. The same is true depending on the Google site we address.

Here is a little test with the Garden Route News letter. We test different spellings on different Google sites: Google.com, Google.co.za, Google.de and Google.gr.

First let’s test the spelling: Gardenroute Newsletter vs. Garden Route Newsletter

The correct spelling is Garden Route Newsletter:

This search on Google.com returns 315,000 results: yorgonestoridis.com then yorgoopublishing.com and gardenrouteaccom.co.za by Hanno Coetzee on rank4.

Spelling Gardenroute Newsletter:

here the search on Google.com returns 96,700 results with again yorgonestoridis.com and yorgoopublishing.com and gardenrouteaccom.co.za on rank 7 (on rank 10 is the YORGOO Blog):

On the same spelling but this time on the Google.co.za (South Africa) site: we are beaten by Flamingotours:

Back to the correct spelling on Google South Africa we find 325,000 returns and Hanno’s Gardenrouteaccom.co.za ranks on number 2, yorgonestoridis.com comes in on rank 21 only.

Revenge is taken on Google Greece, where my sites are on 2 and 3 and Hanno comes in on 15:

Google Germany on the correct spelling with an English search, returns all 3 of our sites on top 10:

As we learn: spelling matters as well as the Google URL we are using. Considering that in every country Google’s default settings are configured to link to the local Google Site, we need to consider those local Google sites in function of our targeted audience.
